Saluting Our Troops — Frequently Asked Questions
We’re proud to host our annual Saluting Our Troops Veterans Day event to honor and serve those who’ve served us. Below are answers to common questions about this special day.
Is an appointment required for this event?
Yes. Every veteran must have an appointment scheduled in order to receive care during the Saluting Our Troops event. Appointments help us make sure every veteran gets the time and attention they deserve.
You can schedule your appointment here: Sign Up for an Appointment
What if I’m not able to get an appointment? Can I go on a waitlist?
Yes. If all appointment times are filled, you can still add your name to our waitlist. Should a spot open up, we’ll reach out based on your requested provider — either the dentist or the hygienist.

If I’ve participated in this event before, can I make another appointment?
Unfortunately, no. Veterans who have already participated in a Saluting Our Troops event are not eligible to schedule again. We limit participation so we can extend care to as many new veterans as possible each year.
What should I expect on the day of my appointment?
Before the event, make sure all your required paperwork has been completed and submitted. On the day of your appointment, simply check in at the front desk when you arrive. At your scheduled time, one of our team members will come get you and guide you through your visit.
Where can I find the Saluting Our Troops patient intake forms to complete before my appointment?
All required forms can be completed online before the event. Please fill them out as soon as possible to secure your spot. Forms must be submitted at least five (5) days before your appointment.
You can access them here: Complete Your Forms
The link will also be emailed and texted to you once your registration has been confirmed.
Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?
Yes! You’re welcome to bring a support person with you. Whether it’s a friend, family member, or caregiver, they’re absolutely invited to accompany you during your visit.
What if I need more than an hour and a half of dental care?
Due to time and material limits, each veteran will receive up to 1.5 hours of free care. Our team will complete as many necessary services as possible during that time.
If additional care is needed, we’ll provide referrals to trusted low-cost community providers to help you continue treatment after your visit.
Do I have to provide proof of my veteran status?
Yes. We require documentation showing you’re a U.S. military veteran. Acceptable proof includes items such as your DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty), a state or DMV-issued ID with a “Veteran” endorsement, an honorable discharge certificate, a state- or county-issued veteran ID, or a VA eligibility letter.
Please have your proof ready when you register or visit us for the event.
Is there any charge for the services that day?
No. There is absolutely no charge for any services provided that day as part of our Saluting Our Troops event. This is our gift of gratitude to our veterans.
Is parking free?
Yes. Parking is completely free, and there’s plenty of space available in our lot.
How do I know if I should see the dentist or the hygienist?
See the hygienist if you need a cleaning, deep cleaning (scaling and root planing), or just want a check-up. The doctor will still perform an exam during your visit.
See the dentist if you have tooth pain, broken teeth, or need fillings or extractions.
Only one appointment (either with the dentist or the hygienist) may be scheduled per person for this event.
What if I don’t complete my paperwork on time?
All required paperwork must be submitted no later than two (2) days before the event.
If paperwork is missing after that deadline, we’ll make every effort to contact you, but your appointment may be canceled and offered to someone on the waiting list.
Will extractions be done that day?
Possibly. Whether an extraction can be completed depends on the type and complexity of the procedure. Some simple extractions may be performed, but more complex ones will likely require a referral. As a rule of thumb, please assume that extractions can be done that day.
Can I schedule both a cleaning and a dental appointment on the same day?
No. To make sure we serve as many veterans as possible, each participant may only have one appointment — either with the dentist or with the hygienist.
After the event, can I become a patient of Jackson Family Dentistry?
Yes — absolutely! We’d be happy to welcome you as a regular patient at our practice. Veterans who participate in Saluting Our Troops can continue their care with us just like any other patient.
To learn more or get started as a new patient, visit our New Patient Information Page.
Q: What if I’m already a patient of Jackson Family Dentistry? Can I participate in the Free Dentistry for Veterans event?
Unfortunately, this event is reserved for veterans who are new to our practice. Saluting Our Troops is designed to reach veterans in our community who may not currently have access to dental care. While we’re incredibly grateful for our existing veteran patients, this event helps us open our doors to new faces and extend care to those who might otherwise go without.
