If you’ve never been to our practice before, here are two easy routes you could take:
- – Take Gartner Rd east out of Naperville all the way to the T with Naper Blvd. Turn left, then turn right onto Maple Ave. Turn left onto DuPage County Rd 40. Turn right onto Ogden Ave. After the Planet Cars Exchange, turn right into our parking lot. If you overshoot and reach the Wilson Ave intersection, turn right and then you’ll have another chance to turn into our parking lot. We’re at 2033 Ogden Ave.
- – Instead of following Gartner Rd that far, turn right onto Washington St. Turn left knot DuPage County 2/Hobson Rd. Then get onto the I-355 northbound. Get off on exit 20 B onto Ogden Ave, then finish the same way as in the first directions.
How Much Local History Do You Know?
Naperville’s rich and layered history begins long before its modern development. Originally home to Native American tribes, the area was inhabited by the Potawatomi when settlers first arrived. The village of Naper’s Settlement was founded in 1831 by Joseph Naper and his family, following a two-month journey from Ohio aboard their schooner, the Telegraph. Other early settlers, including Bailey Hobson — credited as Naperville’s first white resident — contributed to the area’s early growth by building mills and homes near the DuPage River. By 1832, over 100 settlers had arrived, and Naperville quickly developed into a stagecoach stop and, later, the first county seat of DuPage County.
In the years that followed, Naperville continued to grow, incorporating as a village in 1857 and later as a city in 1890. Key institutions such as Nichols Library (1898) and Edward Hospital (originally Edward Sanatorium, opened in 1907) shaped the community’s educational and healthcare foundations. The Kroehler Manufacturing Company, founded in 1887, played a major role in the city’s early industrial success. Naperville remained largely rural until the 1960s, when rapid suburban expansion began. Over the next few decades, the city saw explosive growth — tripling in population during the 1980s and ’90s — transforming into the vibrant, family-friendly city it is today.
